Why are there so many illegal eco-lodges?

IRNA / Following the latest news, the question arises as to why the number of illegal eco-lodges is so high?

There are two models or forms of tourism; Some people are interested in going to expensive and modern hotels in the city. This section of tourists likes to be in an urban environment and have modern facilities. Another part of travelers are interested in going to the village and away from the urban space. They like to spend their time away from the hustle and bustle of the city in a quiet place; In a village that does not yet have the signs of the city.

The creation, operation and hosting of popular ecotourism resorts has been supported for several years and, in addition to being highly welcomed, is also supported by the government and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. The old houses, which host tourists in the quietest and most beautiful villages and the most cozy natural places, are especially attractive to foreign tourists. These houses are full of indigenous culture, living with local customs, traditions and stories, and delicious food with local ingredients that are served with listening to local music, and at the same time the cost of living in them is cheaper than official accommodation units in cities.

The intelligence of tourists and their growing tendency to experience indigenous and local cultures has made them more inclined to approach natural and indigenous living conditions, use traditional food and experience the old-fashioned way of life. That is why ecotourism is the most important and best capacity to use this opportunity and the desire of tourists with the aim of economic development and progress.

Of course, tourism activists say eco-lodges are not the only place for travelers to stay; In this place, the tourist gets acquainted with the cultural heritage of that area, eats local food and participates in the cultural events of that village, and finally buys the handicrafts of that village.

What is worrying about this; There are unauthorized eco-lodges, the number of which is increasing every day and can always be a cause for great concern.

The Vice President of the Ecotourism Society of the country, noting that the support of ecotourism houses leads to development in three areas of tourism, cultural heritage and handicrafts, added: Ecotourism houses are not the only place for travelers to stay. These houses are cultural hangouts and pay attention to heritage issues, as well as the production and supply of handicraft products, as well as tourism services for travelers.

Akbar Rezvanian about why the number of illegal eco-lodges is so high? He added: “Cultural events and ceremonies are held in these houses and the customs of that area are current in these houses.” He assessed the current financial situation of some eco-owners as unsatisfactory and said: “If the government wants to help in this area, it must act quickly so that there is no medicine, because many eco-owners are in bad financial condition.” And are selling their property.

Rezvanian said: “What we have seen so far is that the banking system does not easily fall under the financial burden of this directive, while the central bank has issued this directive and the operating banks refuse to grant these facilities, and this is a structural problem that The government must fix it. The tourism activist added: “Some operating banks are satisfied only with the condition of increasing the interest on the facility to defer the loan, which is not possible to pay more interest to the owners of tourism businesses due to the travel recession.” Rezvanian said: “Restrictions on travel during the Corona period will only boost the activity of illegal ecotourism resorts and there is no monitoring of unauthorized ecotourism.

The vice president of the country’s ecotourism community also assessed the process of renewing and issuing licenses for ecotourism houses as difficult and slow, and said: “These conditions cause many people to refuse to obtain and renew licenses.” One of the ways to remove these obstacles is to create a platform and facilitate the issue of education with activists in this field.

He said that ecotourism houses must obtain the necessary permits from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, Fire, Ministry of Health, Law Enforcement and Intelligence to register permits, while unauthorized units do not obtain any of these permits They set up their eco-tourism easily and quickly. In order to file a complaint and close the illegal eco-lodges, evidence must be collected so that the police can intervene and close the lodge. This is a difficult process, which is why many eco-lodges continue to operate.

The vice president of the country’s ecotourism community, stating that the place of activity and work of many institutions is the village, said: for example, if one of the institutions builds roads, squares and boulevards in the villages, the appearance of the village to build ecotourism goes. For this reason, we need the convergence of institutions and organizations in the village.

Don’t just look at quantity in building ecotourism units

He went on to say that paying attention only to quantity in the construction of ecotourism units is incorrect and said: “What is important in ecotourism is the quality and conditions of that ecotourism unit, which unfortunately has been forgotten and only attention has been paid to quantity and increasing the number of units.” Rezvanian added: “Evaluators who come to review and evaluate ecotourism houses, should pay attention to the quality of units in their evaluation, and certainly the evaluation used for hotels and inns can not be used to evaluate ecotourism houses.” . There is definitely a need to evaluate these tourism units to be familiar with the concepts of ecotourism houses.

Another problem of ecotourism houses, he said, was the lack of capacity measurement for licensing tourist houses. Does not have or for example give ecotourism permits in two villages next to each other while other villages in the region do not have ecotourism houses at all.
